Frequently asked questions

How do I add my music and videos?

You can import files in three ways:

Imported files are copied into YouTunes and stay available offline.

Which formats are supported?

YouTunes plays the audio and video formats supported by iOS, including MP3, AAC/M4A, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV and common video containers (MP4, MOV, M4V). Lyrics can be embedded or supplied as LRC, enhanced LRC, TTML and SRT.

Where does my data live? Is it private?

Your media and library are stored in the app's sandbox on your device. YouTunes has no accounts, no analytics and no ads, and does not send your library to the developer. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.

How does iCloud sync work?

When you are signed in to iCloud and turn on Sync, YouTunes stores your library and media in your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit. The developer cannot read or recover that data. You can turn sync off at any time, and delete synced data from the app or from iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud.

How do I delete a track?

Swipe a row in the library and choose More. From there you can remove a track from a playlist, delete it from your device (keeping the iCloud copy), or delete it from everywhere.

How do I edit artwork, tags, lyrics or subtitles?

Open a track's detail page, tap the ⋯ menu and choose Edit. You can change the artwork, title, artist and album, and edit lyrics and subtitle tracks. Changes are written back into the media file.

A track or artwork is missing after sync. Can I recover it?

Use Settings → Organize Files to re-index media that is already on your device, and Settings → Sync to pull your iCloud library. Files deleted from every device may not be recoverable.
